A Pale Yellow 1989 Mercedes Benz 300E was my first car. Having a Benz as a teenager was pretty cool but the car was kind of old and crappy. The color was a faded pale yellow that had been sun beaten unevenly such that the car looked as if it was painted white and had been pissed on. It was a reliable car, when I got it the factory stereo didn’t work so I had a cheap Alpine head unit installed with two cheap 8″ Subwoofers mounted in tubes and driven by a low end Alpine amp.
Though it was rear wheel drive I had studded snow tires installed in the winter and it went pretty damn good in the snow. If I got on it a little too hard the rear wheels would peel out and shower sparks from the studs which was always entertaining, as were the headlight wipers.
The power Antenna broke and I couldn’t afford to fix it, the Air Conditioning broke and I couldn’t afford to fix it and then something under the engine broke and cost around $900 to repair, after which I decided to get a new car, having only owned it for two years.
I really enjoyed the way the car handled, the way the power came from the rear, and amenities like the power sunroof and powerful stereo system.
Before I sold it I had big plans to start saving money to paint it black and put an AMG Body kit on it.

Thinking back on it now, it probably would make a pretty damn cool car even by today’s standards.
